The categories are :
 
  • Gone- Schools which have been razed
     
  • Abandoned- Schools which are closed and not used for any other purpose
     
  • Endangered- Schools which are closing soon or have recently closed and likely to become abandoned or razed
     
  • Retired- Schools which are not used as public classroom buildings but serve in some other capacity (apartments, offices, etc)
     
  • Functional- Schools still in use as classroom buildings
