How Do I Host A Page?
We need people that are interested in genealogy and history .
We need your help!!!!
1.
You will need to have a source to place you web pages. Rootsweb will
provide free space for project towns and communities. Please ask me about
how to go about obtaining space.
2.
The best way to learn HTML is by jumping right in
and doing! And, you can always ask for help from all the wonderful volunteers
with the Colorado Gen Web Project. You can go to the Colorado GenWeb Project
Volunteer pages for links to free or inexpensive html editors and helpful
tutorials.

3. I suggest that at
least the main entrance page of your site should have the same County Header as
the original County pages. This means the title of the page, same colors, same
background. (This is as of 25 Mar 2003. All pages created before this date are
exempt, however I encourage you to eventually make these changes to at least
your main page if you haven't already done so).
4. All town pages must have on their main page, links back to the GenWeb
Project page, Colorado GenWeb Page, and a link back to
the main Boulder County pages. You can find the logos and links on my main page.
Feel free to grab and use them.
5. There needs to be a
footnote on your pages stating that all data posted is copyrighted by you. But
as with all of the County pages the actual page remains under my copyright for
protection purposes.
6. I do think that once you adopt a page, you should have an initial page posted
within 30 days, but there can be exceptions for certain circumstances.
7. I suggest that you start with a history of the town. The length of the
history is up to you. Then proceed with trying to name the first inhabitants,
adding cemetery transcriptions, census for that town, town officials, churches,
exciting news i.e floods, murders, hangings, etc. These are only SUGGESTIONS,
and not necessarily requirements.
8. Once you start your page, you can add to it over time as you find new data.
9. You can not add your own gedcoms to the page but you are welcome to post
family group sheets of the inhabitants, your own ancestors or others that you
have found. You can find a Family Group Sheet form on our County pages or you
can use a narrative form.
10. You may add a link to any of the data that is already on the County page,
such as a cemetery or census.
11. Please run your data through a spell checker before posting it if you can.
12. The most important things are to have fun with it and expand your knowledge
of the town. All of us will be excited to see the development of the page as
time goes on and you add to it.
13. All town coordinators will
be subscribed to the COGEN email list, where you will be able to meet, ask for
help from, and compare notes with other Colorado County and Town Coordinators.
I do reserve the right
to change these rules if need be, or if any of you have further suggestions.
HAVE FUN!!!
